Sandstone Photo Gallery
Our sandstone is what is commonly referred to as 'Hawkesbury Sandstone'
or 'Sydney Sandstone' it comes in varying shades of white, cream, yellow,
pink, purple, brown and red. Often banded with several of these
shades or spotted.
Sandstone shades only become available in order of its excavation from the quarry. A wide variety is often available please visit our yard in person to see current shades.

Select Square
Ballast Sandstone


For building sandstone retaining walls. Select square
ballast is small or large blocks of split sandstone, roughly square or rectangular in shape. It can be used for dry-wall stacking, or cemented retaining walls. The blocks can be laid in many various styles. |
Split Sandstone Blocks - Cut to Size
For building sandstone retaining walls. Similar to select square ballast however these blocks are more uniform by quantity. We have a number of set sizes we cut to however can also custom cut stone to your requirements. Small blocks called 'handyman rock' can be handled easily by one person where as larger sandstone blocks often require two people but can result in a more impressive retaining wall. |
Sawn Sandstone Blocks
For building sandstone retaining walls. Choose from hydra split sandstone where 4 sides are sawn and the back and front face are rough or dimension sandstone blocks where all 6 sides are sawn. |
Flag Stone - Sandstone Paving, Cladding & Steps
For paving & cladding indoor or outdoor areas. We
sell high quality hand-split flagstone, roughly square or rectangular and approximately
60mm thick. Flag stone is commonly used for paving open areas and
footpaths it can also be used for garden edging, to create steps or clad over existing brick & concrete steps or walls. Flagstone can also be used to build small retaining walls too.

Flag Stone - Crazy Paving
For paving outdoor areas. Crazy
paving is also flag stone, but provides various shapes that may
be square, rectangular, triangular or octagonal. Although slightly
more time consuming to lay, in the right setting the random shapes
give a very natural aesthetic. |

Sandstone capping is used to dress the top of finished retaining
walls and steps. Sandstone capping can have square edges or bull-nose
edging for a more decorative effect. |

sandstone boulders or small tumbled stone canbe used as unique garden features or to
surround a water feature. Large boulders can be ripped sandstone with rough
natural edges, or worked on-site to a smooth; more rounded finish. |

Sandstone Slabs & Blocks
Decorative garden features.
Large
sandstone slabs and blocks are often used by sculptors, for large
or unique retaining walls and seawalls. An experienced stone mason
may also prefer to order large slabs so they may cut their own flag
stone or random ballast. |

Decorative garden features and bush-like rockeries.
Bush
rock is natural and random in size, great for those wanting to create
a native garden or rockery. Bushrock is also often used to surround
natural looking water features. |
Serpentine Rock
Salt water pool surrounds and water features.
The best choice for salt water pools, practical and decorative in colour. Can be used to great effect in tropical gardens too. |
